Maca & Hemp Super Powered Chocolate Recipe (Vegan)

Hemp pesto

Ingredients
6 tablespoons cacao butter (chopped)
3 tablespoons coconut sugar
5 tablespoons cacao powder
1 tablespoon gelatinised maca powder (add more if you like)
1 tablespoon Hemp Brothers hemp seeds (add more if you like)1 to 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Grind your coconut sugar down to a finer consistency (this ‘finer’ nature will allow it to dissipate evenly through the chocolate, ensuring that it doesn’t sink to the bottom whilst the chocolate is setting).

2. Chop your cacao butter into fine pieces (this makes the process of melting much easier). You might also have cacao butter drops (in which case use heaped tablespoons to measure).

3. Get a saucepan and add about an inch of water. Place a heatproof glass bowl on top of the pan (see the video above for a demo) and then heat the water on a low to medium heat.

4. Melt the cacao butter in the glass bowl, adding the coconut sugar and vanilla. Mix in regularly over the next few minutes.

5. When the cacao butter has melted add the cacao powder, maca powder, hemp seeds and mix in thoroughly.

6. Pour into chocolate a chocolate mould or a parchment paper lined container.

7. Set in the freezer (quickest) or in the fridge.

8. Pop out of your moulds when set and enjoy!

Hemp & Pumpkin Seed Oat Bar

Hemp pesto

Ingredients
100g soft pitted dates (about 12 dates)
100ml coconut oil (0.42 cups)
1 tablespoon ground flaxseeds
2 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon almond essence
150g gluten-free oats (1 ½ cups)
3 tablespoons Hemp Brothers hemp seeds
1 tablespoons pumpkin seeds
3 tablespoons ground almonds
2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

1. If your dates are not soft, then soak them ahead of time for at least a couple of hours (until you can easily press and compact them with your fingers).

2. Melt the coconut oil and blend with the soft dates, ground flaxseeds, water and almond extract. This will form a smooth puree.

3. Mix all ingredients together, with the blended puree from step 1. Combine thoroughly with a spoon. Use your hands if it helps.

4. Line a small loaf tin with parchment paper and compact the mixture down really firmly into it.

5. Bake on gas mark 6 (200C or 400F) for about 20 minutes (or until slightly tanned on top).

6. Allow to cool. 7. Slice with a sharp heavy knife and enjoy.
